What Reactors and Spires Do

The verified purpose of repaired Reactors and Spires without inventing an exact reward formula.

Reactors and Spires are repair targets tied to the permanent-progression loop. In the full release, repairing them awards Augment or prestige points. Their demo behavior was incomplete, which is why older impressions can make them look less important than they are.

The verified purpose

Use Reactors and Spires as infrastructure objectives:

  1. unlock travel through Navigation and Mobility;
  2. find the structure on the Map;
  3. prepare enough energy, repair capability, and inventory space;
  4. repair the structure;
  5. verify the Augment-point change in the current run;
  6. compare the new reset preview before choosing the next objective.

The Map and body-grid view connects travel choices with the machine layout that must support each repair.

Verify one repair as a complete journey

Do not judge the structure from its Map icon alone:

  1. select the Reactor or Spire and confirm that the route actually starts;
  2. compare the visible energy and Biomass requirement with the current reserve;
  3. keep enough capacity for the repair to continue under active load;
  4. wait for the repair state to complete before leaving the location;
  5. open the current System Reset preview and record the point change;
  6. compare that preview with the next reachable infrastructure target.

This sequence proves what happened in the current run without requiring a fixed reward table. Auto Repair should remain at the structure while the repair runs; use the Map Automation guide if the route leaves before completion.

When another Map marker covers the target

Current runs can place two POI markers at the same position, making the top marker capture the click. Before abandoning the run, use Map Settings to temporarily highlight a different POI type so unrelated markers are hidden, then try selecting the intended Reactor, Spire, or survivor location again.

Treat this as a temporary selection test, not a confirmed generation fix. Keep a screenshot of the overlap, the current version, and both marker types. If the target remains unreachable after restoring normal filters, report the generated overlap instead of inventing a coordinate or editing the save.

What is not established

The evidence supports their purpose, not a complete optimization table. This guide does not state:

  • an exact point reward for each Reactor or Spire;
  • a universal best order;
  • every coordinate or prerequisite;
  • a fastest route between structures;
  • whether one more repair is always better than resetting now.

Those answers can depend on the current version and the state of a run.

A practical decision rule

Open the current System Reset preview, note the available points, then compare the cost of the next reachable structure with the permanent improvement it may enable. If reaching it would destabilize energy or require several unverified dependencies, finish a smaller measurable task first.

The Map guide covers travel prerequisites and POI goals. The System Reset guide covers the confirmation questions to ask after the repair.
